Custom Line unveils Saetta 128: new planing flagship
Custom Line, the Ferretti Group yard, has released additional details on the Saetta 128, the newest model in its rebranded planing line. The 39.8-metre tri-deck is presented as the line’s new flagship of planing yachts; the first hull is under construction with launch and delivery scheduled for 2026, and two further units have already been sold. The rebranded Saetta family was introduced at the Monaco Yacht Show earlier this year as an expansion of Custom Line’s planing offering.

Senior management frames the Saetta 128 as an evolution in the yard’s approach to liveability and owner customisation. The project is positioned to combine design innovation and construction quality while retaining the sporty character of the Saetta line, with an emphasis on onboard well-being and adaptable layouts for private or charter use.

Tri-deck layout, SY Design exterior and naval architecture
The Saetta 128 is a 39.8 m planing yacht with a beam of 7.7 m and a gross tonnage kept under 300 GT, arranged over three decks to maximise usable interior and exterior volume. Exterior styling was developed by Bologna‑based SY Design, selected for a contemporary interpretation of the planing aesthetic; signature elements include a sloping stern, screen‑printed glazing, a central mast shaped with a shark‑fin motif, and refined, lighter spoilers that reference earlier Saetta models.

Naval architecture and engineering were carried out by the Ferretti Group Engineering Department in collaboration with the Product Strategy Department, led by Piero Ferrari. Structural and hydrodynamic choices focus on planing performance while retaining seakeeping and onboard comfort through trim interceptors and stabiliser fins.

Spacious liveability, floating interiors, and guest layout
Interior design is by ACPV Architects with strategic input from Custom Line Atelier and is offered in two distinct moods. The “Perfect” mood uses darker lacquers, walnut and maple parquet, white marble, and ivory wallpapers to create a richer palette; the “Classic” mood relies on oak and more linear wall finishes for a balanced, pared-back look. ACPV’s team emphasises that the two schemes are differentiated more by texture and atmosphere than by layout or core materials.

A consistent interior concept is the use of “floating” furniture—pieces raised off the floor to echo the planing character of the yacht—and considered circulation elements such as interlocking stairs, which the design team identified as the most complex element to resolve. Key living spaces include a main saloon with floor‑to‑ceiling glazing, an upper‑deck skylounge with a closed saloon and a circa 40 m² stern terrace, a bow lounge with sunbathing area and optional whirlpool, and a large sundeck. A versatile stern bay stores two water toys and can be extended with a sizeable swim platform.

Orders, performance specs, and market positioning summary
Accommodation is configured for up to 10 guests: four lower‑deck cabins (three VIP and one double) plus a main‑deck owner’s suite with a central bed, dressing area, and two bathrooms linked by an oversized shower; crew quarters accommodate six, including the captain. The Saetta 128 has been described as charter‑ready, reflecting the layout flexibility and guest capacity.

Propulsion is twin MTU engines rated at 2,638 hp each, giving a reported top speed of 22 knots, a cruising speed of 19 knots, and a range of about 1,000 nautical miles at an economical 11 knots. The platform can be certified to IMO Tier III if fitted with an SCR system. With the first unit already in build and additional sales confirmed, the Saetta 128 strengthens Custom Line’s planing portfolio at a time when the yard has 13 yachts on order or in build, including larger displacement and semi-displacement models such as the Navetta 50.
